About Us

My wife and I live in the hills of Simpson County, Mississippi. She graciously abides the mess my work tends to leave around the house. It’s a real blessing to have a wife that doesn’t question the things I have in the freezer, the briars and wood chips in the laundry, or what I put in the boudin. The picture above shows the valley we wed and the mountain we climbed in Western Colorado. She did it all for me, and has likewise every day since. So here I am, trying my best for her.

I left work as an Extension Agent to work for myself and gain some extra time to get lost in the shop. Over a few years and piles of shavings with no clear direction, I’ve designed and tweaked a few things until I was satisfied enough to use them personally. Along the way, an inventory began to appear, and the folks around me seemed impressed with my works. There hasn’t been any trouble selling around here, so I figured it’s worth going online to see how we fare.

The materials I use are natural, mostly local, and hand worked. I’ve been dulling and sharpening blades for a long time, but in 2022 I began making selfbows. I knew I had stumbled into something that would change my life as soon as the first arrow thumped the first target. Asking a single piece of wood to bend almost to the point of failure, consistently and indefinitely, is really a tall order. I can’t really think of any application of wood that even compares. But it can work, and when it did for me, my trajectory changed.  Woodworking had just become integral to my hunting, and started nagging at something deep. I built a shop that year and started developing a craft. After countless swealtering days and deep buried splinters, I’ve developed a slate of goods essential enough for the minimalist hunter. The goal here is to design and build things that stand out in a crowd and stand up in the bush. Thanks for checking us out! God Bless
